Jack's Troopy
Jack's loving life in his brilliantly setup 1HZ powered Troopy, travelling around the east coast of Australia. Amongst the numerous mods is a tried and proven HPD top mount intercooler.

Patrick & Elkie's D22

Amongst the many many mods is a HPD front mount intercooler that they found easy to install

Maverick's Magnificent Mitsy
Maverick doesn't follow the herd. With his fresh, unique approach to off-roading and adventure, he's performed suspension mods that possibly no other Paj owner has done. The lofty ground clearance is a result of a massive 7 inch lift, achieved by a 4 inch subframe drop and 3 inch suspension lift, high-rolling on Maxxis 37s.
Mavrerick chose HPD's big Series 2 intercooler because "I’ve been told through word of mouth that it’s the best route for quality and price for the paj compared to other brands," he explained.
HPD units are located far higher than the low-mounted, damage-prone stacked plate OEM units that often split, leaking boost and allow water to enter in wet conditions. Lowering EGTs means you can safely tune the 4M41 for more power, especially handy if you're towing.
Often overlooked by hard-core off-roaders, the relatively lighter, monocoque Mitsy's independent suspension means Paj passengers might not get thrown around the cabin as violently as the occupants of solid axle'd rigs when tackling tough terrain. They also ride and handle better on the bitument, where vehicles spend most of the time.

Wade's ApeSh*t 80
Wade's got a bloody well-setup 80 series. With 35s and lift, amongst a raft of other mods, he's certainly not afraid to give it a crazy-hard time. From Cape York to the Snow, Wade's done a lot of hard miles and the HPD top mount has performed faultlessly keeping temps down and performance up on the 1HZ.
It was tuned originally for 25psi making a healthy 190hp and 640nm but "I did sneak it to 30psi for a while, cooler loved it", revealed Wade.
Due to it's hectic life, Wade's recently performed a bit of a freshen-up, including laying dynamat and an engine rebuild.

Jim's FTE
Jim's 100 Series is a daily driven vehicle that has fitted:
Series 2 front-mount intercooler
Transmission cooler
Garrett Turbo Kit
Catch Can
All these upgrades were added to the vehicle seven years ago, when the legendary 1HD-FTE drivetrain had already racked up over 400,000kms.
Seven years later, at around 510,000kms, Jim's 100 series is still rock-solid-reliable and pulling over 200kWs at all four wheels as well as a gargantuan 927Nm of torque!

Ryan's Gutsy GU Ute
Ryan's a passionate Patrol guy who spends plenty of time hitting the tracks around Victoria. From boulders to bog holes, Ryan's GU gets pushed relentlessly and the HPD top mount has plenty of work to do to keep EGTs down and on the hard-working kettle.
He's also building a GQ shorty that will, due course have some HPD upgrades too.

Peter's 6-Wheel PX2 Ranger
Despite the amazing looks, Peter's number one priority was reliability when he was modifiying his PX2 Ranger, to make Pete's red rig as bulletproof as possible for travelling Australia.
That's why this incredible 6-wheeler has a HPD Intercooler and catch can fitted, along with the whole host of other mods
The HPD Intercooler gives Peter a 22% increase in surface area cooling, and a whopping 232% increase in cooling volume for lower EGT's and the ability to safely tune for big power gains.
In case you're wondering, Peter painted the intercooler black himself. We agree, it looks great, however we only supply our intercooler in our special satin sand-blasted silver finish.
HPD Catch Cans are safe for your engine, capturing oil vapour that contributes to "gunk" build-up in your intake system without creating excessive crankcase pressure

Macca's Battle-Ready 105
Macintyre Jones Giessauf claims his battle-hardened HZJ105 FEELS 10 TIMES BETTER after he installed a HPD Turbo kit and gave it to Diesel Wise Tuning & Performance for tune
Why did Macintyre choose HPD? "Because of the quality and it's what everyone uses" he said, "and Karl's customer service was really good, which, I didn't expect because most places aren't like that." He also commented that the boost controller made it so easy to regulate the boost.
An 80 series is the next build Macintyre has planned, on which he intends to also use tried and proven, aussie-made HPD products.

Dan's 200
Dan was looking for an intercooler upgrade. He explains, "We're pretty heavy loaded, and up north in Summer I was having to keep a close eye on the ultraguage with engine temps creeping up beyond where I'd like them." When the factory unit developed a split and failed, Dan upgraded to a HPD intercooler kit. He claimed his max engine temperature dropped by around 7 degrees when under big loads, which he knows is a really important difference.
Dan wanting to stay with a top mount intercooler as there are quite a few front mounted accessories. Utilise the factory mounting points and avoiding extra fans etc was important to him. "As soon as I opened the HPD box I was floored with the quality and workmanship that went into the unit", said Dan, "and when fitting I was just as impressed with the design. Great work team, I really appreciate an Aussie company producing genuinely great products!"

Gordon's Great 80
Gordon loves exploring beautiful remote places around Australia, so he has performed some serious mods to make sure his 1HZ powered 80 series can reliably take him far off the beaten track and get home again.
Gordon fitted a HPD top mount intercooler as he was after a quality product, and he liked the idea of having a thermo fan underneath to help keep intake temps cool especially when the 1HZ is being worked hard on the beach. Gordon claims his EGT's are much better than before and "I can hold the throttle on for longer periods of time, like towing up hill."

Tim's Tidy TD GU
As a FIFO worker I'm always keen to get home and head out with friends a family. The Patrol takes me everywhere I want to go.
I first bought the wagon as a clean untouched ZD30 which quickly became a converted to a TD42 with plenty of upgrades. Aiming for over 220hp, the HPD intercooler came highly recommended to pair with my additional upgrades.
I have never seen the EGT gauge go over 450 and couldn't be happier with the gear.

Luke is a South Aussie who loves to have fun in the sand and go exploring the outback in his beautifully decked-out MN Triton. Like the many off-roaders who are in-the-know, Luke has fitted a catch can to his Triton to protect his intake system on the 4D56 engine.
Insane to see how much it catches!
Luke chose an Aussie made HPD catch because "I liked the fact fact that it's essentially maintenance free," he claims, "you don't have to buy new filters every 10,000km. And of course the stainless design looks clean in the engine bay!"

Can't recommend [HPD] enough.

Caleb's Collie
Like engines, when it comes to intercoolers, you generally can't beat cubic inches. Caleb wanted a big front-mount intercooler for his RG Collie, so that was just one of the reasons he purchased a HPD kit. "It was the biggest intercooler for the price and you guys have really good reviews so I couldn’t go past it!" Claimed Caleb, "Since I’ve put the kit in, my EGTs have gone down by about 80 degrees. I’m really happy with it!"

Michael's 400K D40 V6
After 400,000km of faultless performance, Michael called into HPD to get a catch can O-ring, the only thing that needed replacing on both of his HPD kits fitted.
but me!
"Nobody touches my cars, but me!" says Michael who’s fastidious about his cars. Purchased brand new, he wouldn’t even let the dealership touch it. Straight off the new car lot, he fitted a HPD catch can and intercooler to his hard-working D40 V6 Navara to protect the V9X powerhouse from soot build up as well as a quality intercooler to replace the restrictive OEM unit that’s known to be prone to splitting.
Our jaws dropped when we looked under the bonnet. You won’t see a 4000km engine bay this clean, let alone in a vehicle that’s travelled 400,000km.
"It's an obsession!" says Michael, "I'm not the sort of person that can stay behind the yellow line. I have to do it myself so I know it's done properly."
He's extremely happy with both the catch can and intercooler on his D40 and highly recommends HPD products.
When asked about what he thought about HPD’s main competitor’s catch cans, Michael puffed in disgust, “you drive two laps around the block, and you’ll blow a seal! They breathe too heavy.”
When Michael was operating his transport business, he had a fleet of five D40 Navara’s all fitted with HPD products, that all performed without any problems.

Rig80s
Tim has one of the toughest 80s getting around. He needed an intercooler as he was powering up the 1HDT with a turbo. Initially, Tim fitted a HPD Series 2 top mount kit as he heard great reviews about them and was impressed with its value for money
Love it! Good bit of kit!
As time went on, Tim was working the 1HDT harder with more regular towing, so he swapped to a front mount intercooler kit, as they are inherently less prone to heat soak. The tough-looking bonnet scoop stayed on.

Jame's MR Triton
This Triton has a mean look that will be doing some frightning of docile motorists. With a sinister black-on-black look, big lift with 33's, when james fitted the PSR Ambush bar up front, the stock intercooler was too restricted. So James got a HPD intercooler kit to help with engine temps and assist with the diesel tune.
James needed to the MR 2.4 to go as hard as it looks as he intends to tow a trailer in the future.

Tony's BT-50 Long Distance Machine
Tony needed to make his UR BT-50 bulletproof reliable, as he does a lot of long-distance outback driving through extremely hot and arid country. He did a great deal of research before he decided the HPD Front Mount kit was the best choice for his vehicle.
A HPD transcooler was also fitted to help combat excessive heat developing in his automatic transmission. Where he was seeing trans oil temperatures as high as 120°C, after fitting a HPD transcooler and a bigger after-market transmission sump, he only saw maximum oil temps around of 80°C after driving on his trip through Innamincka.
"I'm not after crazy horsepower, just better low-down torque" said Tony, "but I got a 29% increase in power with the HPD intercooler and a tune."
Hayden's Mint NP300
Hayden chose a front mount HPD Intercooler kit for his NP300 Navara because it was the, "Biggest cooler on the market surface area wise that’s practically bolt in, paired with 2.75” piping, it was the only thing that would keep up with the volume of air and wouldn’t heat soak"

Will's Turbo Converted 1HZ 105 series
Will has put a great deal of work into restoring and modifying this 105 series Landcruiser. Initially performing an engine swap and geabox rebuild to get it going, Will soon bolted a turbo onto the 1HZ as well as installing a 3" exhaust.
To keep EGT's in check, Will installed a HPD series 2 Top Mount Interooler Kit. "This seriously is a really nice unit," Will commented in his Youtube video documenting the install, "I'm so happy with the quality of this, it's totally worth every dollar that I've spent on it."
"I think it looks so tidy, it sits there so nicely, it was super easy to install and it has improved the EGT's so much," Will claimed, "not to mention the bonnet scoop, I think looks really tidy"
Coupled with a tune at the HPD Service Centre, the 1HZ achieved a dramatic 47% increase in power and an extra 100Nm of torque at all four wheels for a significant improvement in performance and driveability.

Alex's Cummins-Swapped 105
Check out Alex's awesome chopped & Cummins-swapped 105! Running 40psi of boost, Alex keeps EGT's in check with a Series II HPD intercooler kit to suit 100 series with 1HD-FTE. With only small mods needed to make the pipework fit, he's very happy with the HPD intercooler kit, saying he's never seen EGT's higher than 450°C.
Alex bought the 6BT sight-unseen advertised on Gumtree. In a former life, this 5.9L was motivating a DAF truck.
Its first dyno run with 26psi and low fuel pressure, the Cummins cranked out 220hp. Since then Alex has fitted an electric lift pump to increased fuel pressure and is now running 40psi. Alex can only guess that the 6BT is making about 280 - 300hp at the wheels as he will most likely need a new clutch before he can find out on the next dyno run.
