HPD catch can kit installed on VW Tiguan

We have just released three new products in our ever-growing range of oil-air catch cans, to suit the Volkswagen Tiguan, Hyundai Santa Fe and Mazda CX-5.

The new models expand our catch can lineup to 52, comprising 51 model-specific kits and a universal kit that can be fitted to any turbo-diesel engine. For many owners of these vehicles, it is the first time they have owned a turbo-diesel vehicle. Often they are unaware of some of the specific maintenance requirements of this type of engine, and some of the potential problems that can occur.

HPD catch cans are cost-effective preventative maintenance for turbo-diesels of any size.

The HPD catch can protects turbo-diesel engines by precipitating oil vapour from the crankcase breather before it reaches the engine’s intake. This oil vapour would otherwise be carried throughout the intake, lining the intercooler and reducing its efficiency.

Even more critically, if not caught in the catch can, the oil vapour from the breather combines with soot from combustion to form a sticky deposit that builds up to the point that it restricts the engine’s breathing, leading to a costly cleanup.

Unlike many competing products, the HPD catch can does not require expensive filter replacements and does not place back pressure on the engine’s crankcase breather system, which can lead to premature rear main seal failures – another expensive repair.

Crucially, this means HPD catch cans do not require a vent to relieve pressure. Venting the breather to the atmosphere is not permitted under Australian Design Rules, meaning that the HPD catch can is legal and roadworthy in all states of Australia.
Made in Australia from 6061 billet aluminium, the HPD catch can is robust and durable, with a dipstick for checking oil levels and a screw-on reservoir that is easy to remove to empty the collected oil.

Like all of our catch can kits, the three new kits come with everything needed for a factory-look installation. Laser-cut stainless steel brackets, quality hoses, load-rated clamps, and all fasteners are included along with comprehensive instructions, making it a straightforward job for car owners with basic skills and tools.

The Tiguan kit suits 2.0-litre models from 2016-present, the Santa Fe kit suits 2.2-litre models from 2012-present and the CX-5 kit 2.5-litre models from 2018 onward.

The new kits can be ordered right here on our website.
